Hi

My girlfriend and I recently lost our puggat Cricket to a case of hiptoplasmosis and AIMA, reading your description of your puggat is a word for word description of my dog. Puggats are a breed all their own and for the 3 and a half years we had her every day was something different. We made the mistake of letting her in bed one time and from that time on we couldn't keep her out, we would fight over the bath tub anytime you turned on the water. I was the one who she listened to and my girlfriend needed to say "want a cookie" for her to get her attention. In her mind she was 10 times her size, one night we went for a walk and the neighbors pit bull (all bark not bite just a big lover) come running up to my little 10lb dog barking and since it was during the winter we had her what I considered sissy coat on and my dog took off after this pitbull who then stopped dead and turned and ran, chased it into the neighbors yard up on to his deck came off gave a little grunt and kicked up the dirt and some snow and pranced back to me like she was a little bada$$, the pitbull comes running off the deck again and again my dog takes off after it! they later became best friends... Thank you so much for your story the last 3 weeks have been very difficult and reading your story brings back such good memories.

I have a puggat named Harlow that is 5 years old. I ran across him at a pet store and had not heard of the breed but bought him because he was soo cute as a pup. I had a lot of difficulty potty training him at first, but after I learned how he has been a bit easier to train, he learns tricks very quickly but is still stubborn when it comes to a few bad habits. He is very loving and obdient, lays under the covers in bed much like many have described on here. He is on the smaller side, 16 pounds, and he has a nub for a tail, which is the cutest thing. Mine is still rather stubborn when it comes to a few bad habits I can't get him to break, barking A LOT, jumping on people when they walk in the door and nipping at hands when he's being ignored. He poops A LOT too, just like a few others have described and no matter how good the brand of food it doesn't seem to change. Lately he has been having problems with his back legs and I'm hoping he doesn't have hip problems like a lot of pugs do. Despite some of these minor problems I love him to death and couldn't imagine my life without him.

Hi everyone, thank you for all the imformation on puggats. I have a 12 week old male named Maxwell he is the cutest and sweetest dog ever. Loves to cuddle and sleep on my lap. He loves to play catch and knows his name. He does not like to be bathed or even go out in the rain lol He is really taking well to the potty training, for I am a stay at home mom so I am there to take him outside when needed, he hardly has any accidents. Like I said earlier he is so sweet, but sometimes he gets soooo excited the he nips and bites and it's really hard. I know he isn't doing it to be mean he does it to me and my family if we leave and come back and he is excited to see us. Also, friends of the family when they visit he is so excited he nips them. Does anyone else have this problem? If so does anyone know how (if it's possible) to break this habit? Do you think he will get break it himself with age?
Even though I have quite the nipper I wouldn't give him up for anything he brightens my day!

Hello Everyone, First off I would like to say your site is AWESOME! I have been doing alot of research on Puggats (or atleast tried to) and your site is one of the only ones that were actually helpful, Thank you! Okay onto my question...lol :)

We are picking up our very first Puggat (Daisy) on the 21st. She will be just over 8 weeks old. We are very excited to have her here! She has the sweetest little face! And she is afraid of nothing... lol I have 2 young children and 1 cat, Does anyone have any advice on what to expect when we bring her home and any tips on making her transition into her new home a bit easier? The breeder is giving me a blanket with her mother and sibblings sent on it, to help her sleep and get used to her new home, Hopefully that will help in her transition. But if anyone has any advice that could help us out, that would be great! Thanks :)
