Hi everyone, thank you for all the imformation on puggats. I have a 12 week old male named Maxwell he is the cutest and sweetest dog ever. Loves to cuddle and sleep on my lap. He loves to play catch and knows his name. He does not like to be bathed or even go out in the rain lol He is really taking well to the potty training, for I am a stay at home mom so I am there to take him outside when needed, he hardly has any accidents. Like I said earlier he is so sweet, but sometimes he gets soooo excited the he nips and bites and it's really hard. I know he isn't doing it to be mean he does it to me and my family if we leave and come back and he is excited to see us. Also, friends of the family when they visit he is so excited he nips them. Does anyone else have this problem? If so does anyone know how (if it's possible) to break this habit? Do you think he will get break it himself with age?
Even though I have quite the nipper I wouldn't give him up for anything he brightens my day!

Hello Everyone, First off I would like to say your site is AWESOME! I have been doing alot of research on Puggats (or atleast tried to) and your site is one of the only ones that were actually helpful, Thank you! Okay onto my question...lol :)

We are picking up our very first Puggat (Daisy) on the 21st. She will be just over 8 weeks old. We are very excited to have her here! She has the sweetest little face! And she is afraid of nothing... lol I have 2 young children and 1 cat, Does anyone have any advice on what to expect when we bring her home and any tips on making her transition into her new home a bit easier? The breeder is giving me a blanket with her mother and sibblings sent on it, to help her sleep and get used to her new home, Hopefully that will help in her transition. But if anyone has any advice that could help us out, that would be great! Thanks :)

I have a question for all you Puggat owners. I'm not sure if it's a common thing or not, but my little Boots, who is around 6-8 months old, seems to have hernia. I know dogs like to eat grass from time to time, but every time I take her out she is eating some grass. A friend told me that this could mean that the hernia is bothering her. Any kind of answers, suggestions, or tips would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

I have had my puggat for almost two months. Mickey is such a joy to have in my life. He is an incredibly intelligent puppy. He was housebroken within a couple of days. I was able to put out the pad and tell him to use it. Imagine my surprise when he peed moments after my instructions! He prefers to go outside but is used to the wee-wee pads now. Mickey is also incredibly playful. He loves to snuggle with me though he does not snuggle with my husband. He loves to sleep in the bed. It is also his favorite place to hide his treats.
He does shed. I always have my lint brush handy.
Mickey gets left alone in the apartment since my husband and I work full-time. Luckily, he has not had accidents. We make sure he has enough water, snacks and toys to play with. We also leave the music station on the television.
I would recommend a puggat for anyone interested in an intelligent, affection dog who will bring much joy to one's life.

I just got my puggat at Friday, what a joy he has been! First day I brought him home he slept all day and night, 2nd day was feeling like he had he run of the house, ran all over the place.

I am having a hard time getting him to go on the puppy pads as I was trying to do that beause of the weather in MN has been below 0 and too cold for me to stand outside how can I expect a 8 week old puppy to do that. He has gone a couple of times on the pads but only with me staying right on him..

He also hates the kennel during the day but is great in it at night , he sleeps in it all night long.. Wondering why he hates it during the day but not at night??

I'm looking forward to some good times with him, he truely is a loving, sweet puppy that makes lots of cute noises..:)

I have a puggat named Harlow that is 5 years old. I ran across him at a pet store and had not heard of the breed but bought him because he was soo cute as a pup. I had a lot of difficulty potty training him at first, but after I learned how he has been a bit easier to train, he learns tricks very quickly but is still stubborn when it comes to a few bad habits. He is very loving and obdient, lays under the covers in bed much like many have described on here. He is on the smaller side, 16 pounds, and he has a nub for a tail, which is the cutest thing. Mine is still rather stubborn when it comes to a few bad habits I can't get him to break, barking A LOT, jumping on people when they walk in the door and nipping at hands when he's being ignored. He poops A LOT too, just like a few others have described and no matter how good the brand of food it doesn't seem to change. Lately he has been having problems with his back legs and I'm hoping he doesn't have hip problems like a lot of pugs do. Despite some of these minor problems I love him to death and couldn't imagine my life without him.

I am very excited! I just made arrangements for a puggat (I will be picking her up next week :)). I bought a little collar, leash, treats, food, bed and crate. I can't wait to bring her home. Anyway, i just wanted to write a message here becuase it is one of the info sources that helped me make my decision to get a puggat.
thanks!!
