This is so true as my husband have found out. I was hoping you would have hit on how to keep the song picking fresh. Our list has shrunk as well. We haven't mastered it yet. Any suggestions.

I couldn’t agree more with you! I love worship! I grew up in the same church my whole life and I have seen the meaning of worship change a lot. I grew up dreading worship time because I thought it was “boring.” Once I really drilled in deeper with my relationship with God, worship became clearer and it had more meaning to me. It is a pure and direct connection with God!

I have never lead worship. I know one thing that would be tough is “pleasing” everybody. “That song doesn’t help me enter in.” “That song is too peppy.” …etc. The leader has to feel the spirit and move with it. Don’t worry about John Doe in the front row and how he looks. Don’t worry about pleasing people. Please God and that is all that matters. The spirit will move no matter what. Worship is a one-to-one connection with God. It is a personal thing.

I have always imagined that the “order of service” paper that Pastor looks at will some day disappear by the power of God and the service will flow with worship and nothing else. We have become too structured and we try to fit God in a box. We can’t do that!

I found the biggest mistake a worship leader would make was to be lead by a pre-printed program, or a script. The most amazing worship leaders allow themselves to be led by the Holy Spirit. I came from a Methodist church. My wife came from a Lutheren Church. We now attend a church that is built around "worship" and not, ok, we will now sing Hymn number 417. I never really understood the term "worship" music, until i actually experienced it.

The second big issues that I think you hit on very well, is a worship team is too busy trying to sing and play and entertain, that they forget to "worship"

"....i'm coming back to the heart of worship....."
